Make Your Own CBD Infused Hand Sanitizer
Hand sanitizer is a must have these days. For people wanting some cannabinoids with their virus prevention, making your own CBD infused hand sanitizer is easier than ever. The CBD may help with cracked skin, or relieve stress, but make sure if you make your own hand sanitizer, it is at least 60% alcohol like the CDC recommends. Here's a quick percentage calculator if needed.
Materials
Large Pyrex measuring cup
stirrer
8 ounces Isopropyl alcohol
CBD isolate powder or liquid
4 ounces of aloe vera gel
12 ounce Jar or bottle with lid/cap
Infuse Your Own
Start with a cup, 8 ounces, of Isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol in a large Pyrex measuring cup. Most brands are greater than 90% alcohol, but be sure to check the label before check-out. Rubbing alcohol may be hard to find, so a trip to the liquor store may be in order for some grain alcohol like Everclear. Pure CBD powder or liquid isolate works best. At the end of the recipe, we'll end up with a total of 12 ounces of hand sanitizer, so if we want 100 milligrams of CBD per ounce of hand sanny, add in 1.2 grams (1200 milligrams) of CBD powder or liquid to the alcohol. Stir well.
Now let's add aloe vera. Try and find the purest aloe vera you can to avoid other ingredients interfering with the mixing process. Add four ounces of the aloe vera to the CBD and alcohol solution, and stir until the mixture is a smooth consistency. Now, pour your new CBD infused hand sanitizer into a 12 ounce jar or bottle with a cap. Be sure to label your mixture so others will know it is infused. After you make your own, make one for a friend for a great medicated gift.
Why add CBD
CBD absorbs well through the skin. Studies show it can help with inflammation and pain in the hands by bypassing the digestive track and "first pass metabolism." This may help relieve aching hands that are dry and cracked from cold weather or too much hand sanitizer. Other studies show CBD may help with anxiety disorders, a condition on the rise due to the COVID 19 crisis.
A study that looked at treating anxiety disorders with CBD found, " Overall, existing preclinical evidence strongly supports the potential of CBD as a treatment for anxiety disorders. CBD exhibits a broad range of actions, relevant to multiple symptom domains, including anxiolytic, panicolytic, and anti compulsive actions, as well as a decrease in autonomic arousal, a decrease in conditioned fear expression, enhancement of fear extinction, reconsolidation blockade, and prevention of the long-term anxiogenic effects of stress." )From Cannabidiol as a Potential Treatment for Anxiety Disorders)
